This week's S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index release is very encouraging for our housing market. The 3.3 percent price appreciation from first to second quarter in the metro Denver area tops the list of 20 metropolitan areas analyzed. In fact, Denver ranked in the top 3 metropolitan areas analyzed for the first half of 2008.
All cities had home price declines over the previous 12 months, but Denver’s 4.7% drop was the third best performance – the composite decline for all cities analyzed was -15.9%. Home prices declined by more than 25% over the previous year in Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix and Los Angeles.
